Fertility, Pregnancy, and Postpartum
“Every child begins the world anew. They enter as pure potential and the future is always open.”
Whether you're trying to conceive, pregnant, or adjusting to life after childbirth, the journey can be both joyful and challenging. Each stage presents its own emotional and physical struggles, and many people feel isolated or overwhelmed during this time. It's important to recognize that these experiences are unique to each individual and seeking support can be crucial for coping with the emotional toll.
People facing infertility may experience feelings of frustration and grief, and the process can often feel isolating. Trying to conceive can lead to anxiety, depression, or strain on relationships, especially if it takes longer than expected or requires medical intervention. Social pressures can amplify these struggles, making it harder to maintain peace and patience.
Pregnancy can bring anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation as individuals navigate physical changes and the uncertainty of the future. The pressures of societal expectations, especially regarding the well-being of the fetus, can add to these emotions. For postpartum individuals, adjusting to life with a newborn can be overwhelming, and feelings of inadequacy or guilt can arise, particularly if postpartum depression or anxiety occurs.
For trans men, the experience of pregnancy can involve challenges related to gender dysphoria, societal stigma, and healthcare barriers. Trans women may also face significant struggles, such as the sadness of not being able to get pregnant, as well as barriers accessing inclusive family-planning care.
As a therapist, I provide a supportive space to help individuals navigate the emotional and psychological challenges related to conception, pregnancy, and the postpartum period. For those struggling with infertility, I offer a compassionate environment to process the emotional toll of trying to conceive, including feelings of grief, frustration, or isolation. Together, we can explore the emotional impact of fertility treatments and develop strategies to cope with anxiety, depression, and relationship strain.
Pregnancy and the postpartum period can also bring emotional challenges. For pregnant and postpartum individuals, I provide a space to manage anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation, especially when societal pressures or concerns about the well-being of the baby arise. I help clients navigate the changes in their body and identity, offering support during this transformative time.
For LGBTQQIA+ people, the experience of pregnancy (or supporting a pregnant partner or surrogate), fertility, and parenthood can come with additional barriers. I am passionate about cultivating safety and validation needed to process feelings of gender dysphoria, societal stigma, and healthcare barriers specific to queer and trans families. I am especially skilled at helping trans men/masculine people address emotional challenges related to pregnancy, such as self-perception and other complex feelings about pregnancy-related body changes.
I also assist with the logistical aspects of your fertility journey by providing letters for clinics that are often required to begin fertility treatments. These letters ensure you have the documentation needed to move forward confidently.
